How to get there
From Abroad:
There are two international airports in Ecuador Quito or Guayaquil.
From Quito:
You need to take a short interior flight of 30 minutes to get to Manta.
From Guayaquil:
It is approximately a 175 km drive to Playa San José (from Guayaquil to Manta.)
At Jipijapa head towards Puerto Cayo. At Puerto Cayo take the Ruta del Spondylus (Ruta del Sol / Road E15 north) heading north towards Manta. Mirador San José is aproximately 15 km from Puerto Cayo (at KM607).
From Manta:
Heading south (Ruta del Sol / Road E15 south/ Via del Pacifico) towards Puerto Cayo. Mirador San José is located at 58km (45min) from Manta and about 15 km before Puerto Cayo.
From Peurto Lopez:
Take Ruta del Spondylus heading North (Ruta del Sol) up to Puerto Cayo. At Puerto Cayo stay on La Ruta del Spondylus (Ruta del Sol / Road E15 north.) Mirador San José is aproximatly 45 minutes from Puerto Lopez and 10 minutes from Puerto Cayo (at KM607.)
Flights and Ticket Cost
International return flight from Montreal or Toronto (Canada): approximately $1,000.00 CAD.
Interior Flights:
Cost of interior flights one-way $65 USD from Quito to Manta.
Flight time
From Montreal/Toronto flight is approximately 6.30 hrs. At the present time there are no direct flights from Canada to Ecuador.
The new International Airport in Quito scheduled for 2012 might allow new routes and new carriers such as:

- Aerogal
- Air Canada

Services and closest city
The principle city from Mirador San José would be Manta with close to 300, 000 people in the catchment area.
Manta has all the services you could want:

- Restaurants/ bars
- 5 star hotels (Howard Johnson/Oro Verde) Howard Johnson and more

These areas are recommended for all your essential supplies, food and furniture.
Interior transportation
Ecuador has established a very good low cost public transport system which makes it extremely easy to get just about anywhere in the country.
Public buses: From city to provinces, inter-province and international routes.
Get to the neighbouring countries such as Peru, Columbia, Chili or Venuzuala for a low cost of approximately $ 1.00 per hour travelled.
Taxis are easy to come by and it is possible to rent the service of a private taxi for a few hours or for a full day at approximately $20.00 - $25.00 to go from Manta to Mirador San Jose.
Interior flights are very cheap: Approximately $70.00 will get you to most principle cities and tourist regions in the country. There are many daily flights to places such as the Galapagos Islands allowing you to go spend a few days or months in an all-inclusive.
